The work of The Salvation Army began in 1865 as The Christian Mission. The Salvation Army, became known as such in 1878 under the leadership of William and Catherine Booth. The Salvation Army was founded as a movement that was unique, passionate and pragmatic, seeking to transform the world for Christ!
